This weekend was our town's Strawberry Festival so there weren't too many yard sales to speak of {did manage to find a few}.

What was scored:
  • {much needed} Paper Slicer $5
  • Citizens of Humanity Jeans $2
  • Trash Can $2
  • Fun Metal Stool $5
  • Flower Pot $2
  • Chalkboard Sign $1
  • J'adore Perfume $15
  • Box of notions $5
  • 2 Vintage Pillowcases $2
  • Grapevine wreath $1

I admit; I've been stalking J'adore for a few years {couldn't find it at TJMaxx & couldn't bring myself to pay retail}. I was pretty excited to find an almost new bottle Saturday!

I think I'm most excited to sit and sift through this old box of notions.  For some reason wooden spools of thread just make me smile & a girl can never have too many buttons!

What did you find this weekend?

Weights & Measures

I think it’s my old soul that loves scales.  There’s something about the weights & measures, the way they offer balance as though it is tangible, obtainable.  We have one in almost every room and I eye them at every flea market & junk sale.  I especially love old ones.

They tell the stories of what they’ve seen in their cracked paint and worn numbers; the flour they measured or the joy of a new life’s weight. Needless to

say when Robert told me he thought we should get an egg scale it was music to these ears. Almost as well as a good Toledo scale, egg scales hold their value {which means I'm too cheap to invest}.
PictureMy favorite scale holds washcloths for guests to dry their hands
I'm always tempted by them but haven’t been lucky enough to find a deal.   It was pretty clear that Robert actually wanted to weigh our eggs with this scale so my fashion-over-function mentality would not hold much weight {awful pun I know} in this conversation. I left it to him to find the one he wanted because if it were up to me we'd have a hundred year old egg scale with worn numbers and not a trace of accuracy!

Thrilled to introduce you to the latest in our collection; The Incredible Egg Scale. We got a nice discount for some imperfections {little do they know I’d like to leave it in the rain so it could have a few more} but it works great.

Our young hens are laying medium sized eggs as opposed to our usual large to extra large that we sell for $4/doz so we will be selling the smaller eggs for $3/doz until they weigh in at a regular size.  Thanks for sticking with us through the transition and hope you enjoy the discount while it lasts!

I'm looking forward to the days when this beauty has as many stories to tell in its worn look as my others and will continue sharing those stories with you here as we go.

This is where I {erin} will throw in some thoughts, what we’re learning and what’s coming out of our beautiful mess of a life and mess of a sewing room.
